The Dallas Museum for Contemporary Arts (DMCA) was founded in 1957 and was a direct outgrowth of the Dallas Society for Contemporary Arts organized in 1956. Originally comprised of fifteen artists and architects, the Society was founded by sculptor Heri Bert Bartscht, who also served as its first president.
